Throughout this unit the students will be being assessed in many different ways. In my eyes an assessment isn’t always a grade that they get on a paper, project, or test more of what they learned and can explain. Throughout this unit they will be working either solo or with a partner. During this time I will be walking around the classroom making sure that everyone is on the right track and/or same page. I can ask the students why did you set up the punnett square that way? Or why is this co-dominant and not incomplete dominance. While doing this I will be assessing students in there progress from one subject to the next in this unit of genetics.

To contradict myself you still need that concrete grade that the parents care about and that’s about all that most parents care about. The students will have the traits lab in which they will have to complete and do a lab report for. With a lot of the punnett square worksheets they have to explain why they did something and/or why it looks the way it does. This will give me a great idea on how they understand the material at hand. Some of these will be handed in and graded in which they will have to point out certain points which will let me know they know what they are doing. Ex. This is incomplete dominance because neither trait is dominate and the expression being shown is like a mixture of both. This would let me know that they understand what they are working on.
